Step 1: Connect PC and Smart TV to the Same Local Network
To enable communication between your laptop and TV, both devices must share a local network. Choose one of two offline methods:
Option A: Via Local Wi-Fi Router (No Internet Required)
Connect your PC and Smart TV to the same home or office Wi-Fi network. Even if your internet service provider (ISP) is down or the router has no WAN connection, local LAN communication will work seamlessly.
Option B: Via Windows Mobile Hotspot (No Router Required)
If you are in a location with no router (e.g. hotel room, campsite, or exhibition booth):
- On your Windows laptop, open Settings $\rightarrow$ Network & Internet $\rightarrow$ Mobile hotspot.
- Toggle Mobile hotspot to On (Windows allows creating a local hotspot even without an active internet connection).
- On your Smart TV, open Network Settings $\rightarrow$ Wi-Fi and connect to your laptop’s hotspot network.

ScreenTask.exe. - In the IP dropdown, select your computer’s local IPv4 address assigned to your Wi-Fi or Mobile Hotspot adapter (e.g.
192.168.1.50or192.168.137.1). - Select the display you want to stream (Screen 1 or Screen 2 if using multi-monitor setups).
- Set Port to
7070(or9000). - Set Refresh Rate:
- 500 ms (2 FPS): Recommended for slide presentations, reading PDFs, and dashboards.
- 200 ms (5 FPS): Recommended for smooth cursor navigation and live software demonstrations.
- Click Start Server.

- Pick up your TV remote control and navigate to your TV’s app menu.

- Enter Fullscreen Mode: Most TV browsers feature a Fullscreen toggle in the top toolbar or via pressing the green/blue shortcut button on your remote control.
- Bookmark the URL: Add the ScreenTask IP address to your TV browser bookmarks or quick dial for one-click access during future meetings.
- Aspect Ratio Adjustment: If the edges of your desktop appear clipped or have black side bars, open your TV’s Picture Settings and set Aspect Ratio to “Just Scan”, “Original”, or “Fit to Screen” rather than 16:9 Stretch.
Troubleshooting Common Smart TV Mirroring Hurdles
1. TV Browser Says “Cannot Connect” or “Page Unreachable”
- Verify IP Address: Ensure you typed
http://before the IP and specified the port (e.g.:7070). - Check Network Profile: On Windows 10/11, ensure your network profile is set to Private. Public profiles block incoming connections from the TV.
