Installation FAQ
Does ScreenTask require an internet connection to install or run?
No. ScreenTask is 100% offline. The setup wizard and portable ZIP include all necessary assets and require zero internet connectivity during installation or execution.
Why does Windows Defender SmartScreen appear on Windows 11?
Because ScreenTask is an independent, non-profit open-source project without a costly commercial Extended Validation (EV) certificate, Windows Defender SmartScreen may display a warning. Simply click "More info" and then "Run anyway". You can audit every line of code on GitHub.
How do I run the portable version?
Download the ZIP archive, extract it to any folder (or a USB flash drive), and double-click ScreenTask.exe. It will run immediately without writing registry keys or modifying system files.
